In 2010, sE Electronics introduced the X1, an affordable and hand-crafted
condenser microphone with plenty of features.
The microphone had the highest dynamic range and SPL in its class and more
features than the competition.
Its successor, the sE Electronics X1 S is a refined version of this modern
classic.
Improved in almost every respect and just as affordable as the original.
Like
its predecessor, the X1 S features a handmade condenser capsule, carefully
constructed and tuned by sE engineers.
Compared to its predecessor, its own noise is very low, making it one of the
quietest microphones in its class.
The microphone also has improved sensitivity and higher SPL.
The -10 dB and -20 dB pad switches provide a wider dynamic range, making the
microphone suitable for a wide range of applications and close-mic techniques.
Even for the loudest instruments, such as electric guitars, fortissimo brass
and kick drums.
The low-off filter can be switched to 80Hz or 160Hz, both filters eliminate
low-frequency background noise and compensate for the peak (proximity effect)
in close-mic techniques.
Unlike the cheaply built housings of other
‘entry-level’ microphones, the X1 S has an all-metal housing.
This ensures suppression of electrical interference and noise.
